Full Story

Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL), today announced that First Abu Dhabi Bank MISR, a leading bank in the MENA region, has selected its advanced infrastructure solutions to strengthen, consolidate and modernize its legacy infrastructure. This includes implementing cloud, storage, data security and workplace solutions to upgrade and integrate with its existing IT infrastructure following its merger with Bank Audi Egypt.

FAB MISR has been at the forefront of driving digital innovation and is recognized across the region for transforming the banking sector with its breakthrough products and services. The implementation of Dell solutions further underscores the bank’s pioneering role and opens new doors to deploy innovative applications in real-time analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and big data. The refreshed infrastructure also aims to fulfil FAB MISR’s interim and long-term needs following the merger, while maintaining flexibility and scalability to provide digital services to enable future growth.

The purpose-built digital architecture comprises various compute resources that include Dell PowerScale, Dell PowerMax, Dell PowerProtect, Dell PowerEdge, Dell PowerStore and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) thin client. All these technologies also run under a single management and resource allocation platform, that enables FAB MISR to consume resources based on a Cloud model, hence shortening the time to market and streamline services provided to different users / departments within the organisation.

Shaarawy Mohamed, CTO of FAB MISR said, “As we are in the middle of our transformational journey, FAB MISR chose Dell Technologies as one of the technology strategic partners, we believe that we both can work together to help the bank in reaching the strategic goals we set and increase business resiliency via modern technology and innovation. We have been working with Dell for many years and thanks to both their teams and reliable technology, we were able to achieve a lot in the past few years, we are now thrilled and looking forward to achieving more in the next chapter where we are building our bank of the future”

Tarek Heiba, General Manager – Egypt and Libya at Dell Technologies added, “At Dell Technologies, our vision for the financial sector is to help banks such as FAB MISR create secure, flexible, and cost-efficient infrastructure that helps accelerate innovation and revenue growth. As one of the largest banks in Egypt, FAB MISR today stands at the cutting-edge of innovation as it is embedding technology across all aspects of its business. This digital foundation delivers best-in-class digital banking services, while also providing a more agile, secure, and scalable infrastructure that will allow them to bring products and services to market faster and advance their digital roadmap.”
