, this visit is under the framework of H.E. participation in the meetings of Egypt – Jordan Agricultural Technical Committee
After the bilateral meeting between both Excellencies Ministers of Agriculture of Egypt and Jordan,
During the talks in the Joint Technical Committee, the Ministers agreed to facilitate the procedures for the exchange of agriculture goods and food commodities between both sides and also for the exportation of Horses according to international standards
During the visit, the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture met with the President and members of the Council of the Egyptian General Horses Cooperative Society in the presence of Dr. Saad Moussa, the supervisor of the Foreign Agriculture Relations. Both sides discussed Ways to strengthen cooperation between Jordan and Egypt in the field of breeding of authentic Arabian horses, as one of the most important flagships of the Arabian heritage
The meeting also addressed the importance of exchange experiences and research to improve breeds, as well as organizing joint events such as exhibitions and festivals that highlight these distinctive breeds
The Board of Directors of the Council expressed their pleasure to meet H.E. the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, and they highlighted the importance of continuous coordination between both countries to develop the authentic Arabian horses sector, especially given Jordan’s leading position in this area.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt has
El-Zahra Authentic Arabian Horses Station, which is considered as the oldest in the world, and is currently one of the world’s largest horse exporters, and the first in the Middle East in terms of space, veterinary efficiency and its containment of ancient breeds of native Arabian horses, and its possession of 5 strains of the 5 most important horse families in Egypt
Among them are the finest, rarest and most precious species of horses in the world which is Saqlawi, each name for these species is attributable to one of the Arabian tribes known for these types of horses and was the worldwide source for such authentic horses in the Arabian Island region since 4500 years ago. These types of horses came to Egypt during Islamic Conquest.
El-Zahra Station is located in Ain Shams area and was established in 1928, on an area of 60 acres with the aim of preserving Egyptian horses, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, it oversees more than 18 thousand private horse farms, with more than 25 horses of authentic Arabian horses
This station is considered as the accreditation, registration and numbering entity for horses in Egypt
Mentioning that the World Organization for Animal Health announced that
Egypt is free of all horses’ diseases such as African horse sickness, glanders, dorine, anaemia and hosre arthritis that affect the movement of horse exports and their participation in international sporting events.
