Jumia, the leading e-commerce platform in the Egyptian market, officially announced the appointment of Abdellatif Olama as the Chief Executive Officer, who will lead the company’s new journey of success in Egypt.
Hisham El-Gabry, the former CEO of the company, has also been promoted to the position of the Jumia Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), following his achievements during his tenure at Jumia Egypt and his valuable expertise at the group level.
“I am delighted to lead Jumia in Egypt, one of Jumia’s largest markets. We’re dedicated to enhancing consumers’ lives and becoming their preferred choice for e-commerce and financial services. I’m honored to be part of Jumia’s success story in Egypt, focusing on customer satisfaction, secure payments, and strong partnerships with global and local businesses. Our dedicated team is key to our future success, and I’m confident we’ll achieve even greater milestones, always earning our customers’ trust.” said Abdellatif Olama, the new CEO of Jumia Egypt.

Abdellatif assumes the Jumia Egypt CEO position after successful spells as VP for Business Growth and Country Manager, JumiaPay, Egypt, and Group MD JumiaPay.
Abdellatif previously worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Co Egypt, a member of the team founding the McKinsey Cairo office. He is a founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NGO T20.
He is an entrepreneur with notable contributions in e-commerce, digital marketing and advertising, AI, and health-tech. He holds an MBA from INSEAD J’08, a B.Sc and M.Sc in Computer Science from Concordia University, Montreal and the German University in Cairo, respectively. He is a graduate of the Deutsche Evagelische Oberschule in Kairo’s N class.

Hisham El-Gabry, the new Jumia’s Group Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his happiness with the new position and the achievements that have been realized by Jumia in Egypt across multiple fields, especially through various partnerships with industry leaders. “We have a plan to continue these successes at the African continent level. We wish Abdellatif Olama success in leading the company in the coming period.” said Hisham ElGabry.
