id Al Futtaim, owner and operator of Carrefour in Egypt, announced the opening of the first Carrefour store in the Port Said Governorate, strategically located in the city of Port Fouad at the Helnan resort. The opening of the store serves as part of Majid Al Futtaim’s expansion plan that aims to reach a larger customer base across various governorates in the country. The ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Major General Adel Al-Ghadban, the Governor of Port Said, Philippe Peguilhan, Country Manager, Majid Al Futtaim Retail in Egypt, Tamer Al-Hamzawy, Chairman of Al-Hamzawy Holding Group for Real Estate Investment, and Karim Al-Hamzawy, CEO of Al- Hamzawy Holding Group for Real Estate Investment.
The new store spans 1,000 square meters and offers a wide range of food and non-food items, with up to 7,000 products, including beverages, fresh and frozen foods, bakeries, and light household products. The store also provides diversified services, including home delivery and e-payment services, stemming from Majid Al Futtaim’s vision to create “great moments for everyone, everyday”.
Located within the city, near residential and commercial areas, the store aims to better serve the local community and ensure accessibility. Additionally, 95 percent of the colleagues are Port Said residents, which aligns with Majid Al Futtaim’s dedication to supporting the local community.

The Governor of Port Said added that the area where Carrefour store is located has witnessed significant tourism growth and the establishment of numerous tourism and commercial projects, creating thousands of job opportunities.
He also stated that Port Said welcomes all international entities to establish various projects in the area. The Governor highlighted the development projects taking place in the province, which have made it a driving force for Egypt’s development. He expressed gratitude to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for making Port Said one of the key destinations for major national projects.
He added: “Port Said is full of promising investment opportunities across various fields. Therefore, we are eager to support investors who create job opportunities for the people of the governorate and contribute to its economic development.”

With the opening of the Port Fouad store in Port Said governorate, the total number of Carrefour stores in Egypt now stands at 70, spread across various governorates, and which include hypermarkets and supermarkets. Across these stores, 85% of the products offered are locally sourced.
The second Carrefour store will be opening at the ‘Green Waves’ resort, one of Al-Hamzawy Holding Group’s projects in Port Said Governorate in the upcoming period. The resort includes a residential, medical, and administrative complex and boasts a breathtaking view and a prime location, situated approximately 500 meters from the sea, one kilometer from Damietta Road, and one kilometer from the Cairo and Ismailia Road. It is characterized by an advanced perspective of quality, luxury, and a contemporary vision that offers a life characterized by the highest standards of quality, safety, and beauty.
Helnan resort is one of the projects under Al- Hamzawy Holding. It stands as the first five-star hotel and resort of its kind in the governorate of Port Said. The resort offers all-inclusive facilities and services along the beachfront, featuring 160 hotel rooms in its first phase, in addition to 295 hotel rooms in its second phase. The resort is located on an area of 95,000 square meters, with an investment cost exceeding 550 million Egyptian pounds, managed by Helnan International Hotels.
