paniards Lucia Micaela Lopez and Camila Goyeneche Claim First Place in the Biggest Women’s International Tournament in Egypt and the Middle East

The third edition of the Il Bosco International Padel Tournament, which took place between May 22nd and the 25th, came to an end after hosting over 100 matches across all categories. Organized by Misr Italia Properties (MIP) and JPadel Egypt, the 4-day tournament was held at Il Bosco Sports Club, situated at the heart of MIP’s flagship development of Il Bosco in the New Administrative Capital. The tournament was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company (ACUD), as well as the International and Egyptian Padel Federations. Final matches saw Egyptian Youssef Hossam and his Argentinean teammate, Julian Lacamoire, crowned as champions; while Spaniards Lucia Micaela Fernandez Lopez and Camila Fassio Goyeneche secured first place in the women’s category.
Bringing together professionals from 17 countries, Il Bosco International Padel Tournament featured 240 players from England, Italy, Qatar, Spain, Argentina, France, and the UAE; this year also marked the first-time participation of players from Chile, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, and Hungary. With the primary aim of promoting sports in Egypt and a healthier lifestyle, Il Bosco International Padel Tournament provided a platform for international and local players to compete and share experiences. This edition also saw the inauguration of the Juniors’ Tournament, including players aged 14-18; a competition for universities, as well as the biggest women’s padel tournament in Egypt and the Middle East.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Khalek, General Manager of Tourism and Sports Events at the Minister’s Office, on behalf of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports; Eng. Ahmed Ghatwary, President of the Egyptian and Arab Padel Federations; Ahmed Fathy, Co-CEO of Misr Italia Properties; and Ismail Seddik, CEO of JPadel Egypt.
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport claimed first place in the Universities Tournament, followed by the German University in Cairo in second place. Meanwhile Omar Nadeem and Zein El Bali won first place in the under-14 juniors’ tournament; while Adel Al-Sahn and Mohamed El Hamimy came out first in the under-16 category. On the other side of the courts in the girls’ under-16 competition, Salma Mostafa El Zayat and Farida Mohamed Osman secured first place, while under-18 Hassan Shaheen and Wagdy Raslan won first place, with Kaori Peko Fernandez and Sara Foguer Lapuente claiming first place in the same category.
Il Bosco, covering an area of 200 acres, encompasses a variety of villas and apartments, in addition to a sports club and a community center, making MIP the first private-sector real estate developer to establish a fully integrated livable zone in Il Bosco at the New Administrative Capital, inaugurated in the first quarter of 2024.
Solidifying its dedication to establishing premium-quality sports facilities across its lineup of projects, MIP aims to cater to customers’ evolving needs, in line with its objective of creating a ‘Life Inspired by You.’ Since its establishment, Il Bosco Sports Club has hosted international sports tournaments to support, not only the developer’s overarching goals, but also Egypt’s vision for further growing sports tourism as a sector; while promoting progress made at the New Administrative Capital. In addition to padel courts in Il Bosco Sports Club’s first phase, MIP is set to include football, basketball, tennis, and squash courts, as well as a gymnastics hall, and children’s park in the following second and third phases.
